Osasuna draws 1-1 with Valencia in Spain

MADRID(AP) Valencia's hopes of a first victory in three weeks were dashed in stoppage time after being reduced to 10 men on Sunday, when Manuel ''Lolo'' Ortiz scored a deserved equalizer to earn Osasuna a 1-1 draw at home in the Spanish league.

Although Osasuna had dominated the game, Valencia looked destined for all three points when Roberto Soldado scored his 12th league goal of the season in the 85th minute with a header that hit the post before finding the net.

But Lolo tapped in a rebound from close range following a free kick after Valencia midfielder David Abelda was shown a straight red card for a tackle on Osasuna's David Timor.

''I think we did enough to win considering the chances and pressure we created, and for only letting the rival threaten once - when they scored. But that's football,'' said Osasuna coach Jose Mendilibar, whose team has only lost once at home this season.

The result left Valencia in third place at the season's midway point, 11 points behind leader Real Madrid before it hosts Athletic Bilbao later.

Also, Mallorca resisted Rayo Vallecano's strong first half to win 1-0 away thanks to Ivan Ramis' header, which took a deflection off a defender and the crossbar before landing inside the corner of the net in the 57th minute.

Later, second-place Barcelona visits Malaga and last-place Zaragoza is at Levante.

On Saturday, Atletico Madrid routed Real Sociedad 4-0 following a hat trick from Radamel Falcao for its first away win of the season.

Also, it was: Racing Santander 1, Getafe 2; Espanyol 3, Granada 0 and Real Betis 1, Sevilla 1.

Sporting Gijon is at Villarreal on Monday.
